In a blog post late Monday, Xbox Live chief Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, described one specific fix packed into the new firmware update -- faster connect time.

Dubbing the improvement "Quick Connect," Hryb said that in the past the controller took around four to five seconds to connect to the Xbox One console when someone turned it on.

This program gives Xbox One owners an early shot at trying out new features before they roll out to all console users.

Those in the Xbox Preview Program are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions to Microsoft based on new features to help the company determine whether those features are fit and ready for all Xbox One users.

The files which users could download to do so have also been pulled.

"The site was not an alternative way to take the Day One update and customers still need to connect to Xbox Live for the update," a spokesperson said.

UPDATE: Microsoft has removed its instructions for updating Xbox One without connecting it to the internet.

The company issued Eurogamer a statement contradicting its earlier claim that the site could be used to manually update an Xbox One's firmware.

That said, anyone who runs into difficulties now may be forced to go through Microsoft support channels to get the files they need, rather than simply obtain them from Microsoft's server.

Step 2: : In a strange turn of event, Microsoft has deleted instructions on how to update Xbox One without being online via USB.

Furthermore, Xbox One Day One Patch files which players downloaded for maually updating Xbox One has also been taken down."The site was not an alternative way to take the Day One update and customers still need to connect to Xbox Live for the update," a spokesperson said regarding this unexpected deletion.

Microsoft has been diligent about fixing and enhancing the Xbox One since the console debuted in November 2013.

The company rolls out a number of new features and improvements on a monthly basis.

Dubbed the "Emergency Offline Update", you'll need a PC with internet access and a 2GB USB flash drive to complete the process.
